Here at the little house, we are all a part of a community. We all have a lot to teach, and we can all learn from one another. We all want to spend our time in places that feel good. Little House Big Art is a welcoming space. It is a place for creativity and ideas – and of kindness, encouragement, acceptance, and respect.
kindness
The world can never have too much kindness. This is a place where it is especially valued. The kindness we can give to one another in our everyday lives is one of our greatest talents.
encouragement
We don’t all start out masters. we all have different talents and abilities. This is a place where you will learn, and be challenged, no matter what your current level of familiarity or skill. We are here to enjoy making great things, in a non-competitive space. There’s room to grow for everyone.
acceptance
We welcome people of all races, beliefs, abilities, gender identities and expressions, income levels, etc. This is a safe space for all – our diversity is what makes us beautiful and what gives the little house big perspective. We have art for all ages! We also have certain times for special groups, but this is never meant to exclude. Please talk to us if you have any questions about the inclusiveness of our space.
respect
At the little house we always treat each other, ourselves and our space with respect. This is found in how we work and how we speak to each other. We take care of our tools and supplies, the house, and each other.
outreach
Since not everyone can come to Little House Big Art, miniature versions of what we do can be found out in the community. Our appearances will make financially and geographically accessible art activities available all over the place. Some places you might find us include the Pittsburgh Public Market, the Jefferson Community Center, and Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church.
