nap time frenzy enjoys both phone chargers and making custom buttons L.C. looking cute as usual the original (short lived) play area sparx in her kitten close up! kitten dinner aftermath cuddling turns out kittens love ceramics dinner time – NOT GRACEFUL, but still cute! wink! it’s hard to believe it’s been two weeks since these kittens ended up with me. except that they have grown SO MUCH! and they’re doing so much stuff! they have had a few moments of sensitive stomachs, and adjusting, but they are all doing wonderfully. They’re gaining weight, and are sweet and playful. they love to be held, and will purr almost instantly on contact. We’re in the midst of the transition from bottle feeding to soft cat foods.I started litter box training with them and they are really rather impressive at it. no doubt, 9 of anything is a handful. we are a little less than graceful at feeding time. their current method is to lay on a plate of wet cat food and just eat until they hit the plate, and are covered from head to tail. each meal, therefore, includes a significant amount of post-food clean up. i had originally made them a play area by taping together a few large boxes, but they quickly outgrew that and now have complete run of the studio for the better part of the day. they do a lot more wrestling now, and leap from place to place. they have started plotting small (adorable) attacks on one another by hiding behind or under something and then racing out to pounce as another walks...

kittens in bed for the night, we’re pooped!

After almost a week of me frantically scouring the internet and calling vets trying to figure out why these guys wouldn’t go, things are finally on the move. I had recommendations of adding olive oil, karo syrup, and finally PUMPKIN to their formula. I tried all of those, and I think it was the pumpkin that finally got things moving along. I never imagined myself to be a fretting mom, but when it seems like something is wrong its all you can think about! everyone is happy and frisky. Today at the studio we had lots of visitors of all ages for cuddling and feeding of kittens. I also built them a cardboard playplace, since they’re really playing around a lot now. they love to wrestle. more pictures soon! thanks for keeping up...
L.C. Finds a home!

L.C. Finds a home!

We have matched our first kitten with it’s future owner! One of our darling black and white babies has been adopted by John P. and is now named L.C. , for Little Cat. It already seems to be a perfect match! we’re so happy. L.C. will stay with her kitten friends for a few more weeks, but now she has an awesome home to move on to! 8 more to go…. Interested in adopting a kitty? We require a safe and loving home for it to go to, and a promise to spay and neuter at the appropriate age. That can be arranged with one of many programs here in the city – we don’t want any of these guys making more kittens that end up orphaned 🙁 feel free to come by or call us to meet your future kitteh friend <3 You can also help us pay for food, vet care and kitten needs through the widget below....
late night kitten news- skills

late night kitten news- skills

Just finished the the last feeding of the night before I catch a few hours of sleep. Everything with these guys happens VERY fast. I’ve had them almost a week now, and they have changed SO MUCH. Aside from putting on weight, and learning to use the bottle to feed they’ve steadied their walks, and now they’re starting to mix things up! Sometime between the 10pm feeding and now they very suddenly seem to have all mastered a new skill: POUNCE! While waiting for their turn with the bottle they seemed to be enjoying trying out POUNCE! all around their crate. There’s been some general wrestling and rolling about, but this new skill seems like it involves more planning and execution than the basic swat and roll.Who knows what they’ll be up to tomorrow. Another heartwarming skill that seems to increase every day is PURRING. They’ve got that one totally down. Everyone loves to cuddle and to fall asleep eating, and always with the purrrrring. <3 love them. You will too! Come meet a kitten...
9 orphan kittens!

9 orphan kittens!

Ben and Ax recued these babies! Big Yawn Seriously? Cuteness: overwhelming holding two at once feeding help from friends after a bath fuss! can’t get to milk fast enough! fuzzy tangle new towels! tiny feeding time sleeping in piles Amaia visits with baby hulk mighty roar! Fuzzy Babies! There isn’t much time to write between feedings, but last week on Wednesday 9 kittens were found abandoned behind a local restaurant. After watching and searching all day no mamma cat could be found. It’s Kitten Season and the shelters are full so as cute and sweet as they are, if we sent them to the shelters their chance for survival is surprisingly low. We are looking for permanent homes for all of them, and in the meantime, fostering them here at the art studio. How can you help? Come by the studio and hold them for a while, and help with a feeding. Post on your facebook or blog about them so we can help find them loving homes. You can also help us with the financial burden – which is significant. They need initial vet care, and even with a “litter rate” the services come to $630 just to be seen and vaccinated. kitten milk replacement costs about $20 every 2-3 days. Other incidentals like cotton balls, ointment, laundry soap (we wash their bedding over and over to try to get rid of the fleas) adds up too. Any help is greatly appreciated. <3 you can use the ChipIn box here or at the bottom of any page, and share it on your facebook. It will take you to...
